Yet for decades, the story of African tourism, wildlife, and indigenous territories has been written by everyone except Africans themselves—the communities who have been their guardians for generations.

When I founded Territory Explorers, I was driven by a simple truth that many overlook: Uganda—and indeed all of East Africa—possesses beauty, wildlife territories, and indigenous landscapes that rival any destination on earth.

Our mist-covered mountains, expansive savannas, pristine national parks, ancient migration routes, traditional homelands, and extraordinary biodiversity have drawn explorers here for generations.

But there’s another truth that’s equally important: the communities surrounding these natural wonders often remain in poverty, despite the millions of tourism dollars flowing into our region each year.
