This 11-day expedition follows the scenic Mahoma Circuit, culminating in the ascent of Margherita Peak, Africa's third-highest summit. Along the journey, you'll trek through lush rainforests, cross mountain rivers and bogs, experience breathtaking high-altitude scenery, and enjoy the support of experienced mountain guides and porters. The adventure concludes with relaxation at Igongo Cultural Centre before your departure, making it a perfect blend of challenge, nature, and Ugandan hospitality.

(Trip Details)

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe & Hotel Transfer

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and recovering from your journey before your mountaineering adventure begins

Day 2: Transfer to Kasese & Mountaineering Preparation

After breakfast, depart for Kasese where you will report to the Rwenzori Mountain Services (RMS) offices. Meet your guides, receive a briefing, and settle into your accommodation as you prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 3: Hike from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut

Hinking Rwenzori from Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba hut. After breakfast and briefing fully from the (RMS) officials, you set off with your equipments and porters supplied by RMS for the hiking trail (1645m) past Bakonjo homes and moving through elephant grass and garden plots. This trail follows the Mubuku River; it involves climbing over rock and bluff before reaching the Mahoma river and set camp.

Day 4: Trek from Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut

Hiking Rwenzori from Nyabitaba hut to John Matte. An early rise is required, as this circuit is the longest and challenging. From this hut the trail leads westwards and then drops steeply to Kurt Shaffer Bridge crossing below the confluence of the Bujuku and Mubuku Rivers.

Day 5: Trek from John Matte Hut to Bujuku Hut

Rwenzori hiking from John Mette to Bujuku hut. Leave this hut in the morning to cross the Bujuku River and enter the lower Bigo bog, here you will experience jumping from tussock to tussock on grass bog.

Day 6: Trek from Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut

Rwenzori hiking from Bujuku hut to Elena hut. Leave directly to a newer trail, which rises and falls and finally climbs through magical moss dropped vegetation at 14,345 feet (4372m) to scot Elliot pass.

Day 7: Summit Margherita Peak & Descend to Kitandara

Elena hut then to Margherita peak. Some visitors who reach here are tired and those who do not want to proceed on and climb Margherita peak due to unexpected altitude sickness and fog, making their climbing a bit difficult there is an option of continuing left via Scott Elliot pass to Kitandara Lake.

Day 8: Descend from Kitandara to Gae Yeoman Hut

Kitandara hut Descend to Gae Yeoman After breakfast, descend to Gae Yeoman via the steep but enjoyable hour long climb from the base of mountain Baker. On a clear day, one may also take a view at the Democratic Republic of Congo on the west of Mountain Stanley. The descending continues to Bujangolo rock shelters, the base camp for the historic expedition by Duke Abruzzi in 1906. Time taken to reach Gae Yeoman Hut from Kitandara is about, 5-6 hours.

Day 9: Trek from Gae Yeoman to Nyabitaba Hut

Gae Yeoman to Nyabitaba hut. Hikers may be required to begin their journey early enough so as to get to Nyabitaba hut before dark. Late evening, can also be good for taking a walk and viewing some of the birds and the occasional blue tailed monkey. For the typical hikers, the descending process will take 5-6 hours. Stay at Nyabitaba hut (2650m)

Day 10: Descend to Nyakalengija & Transfer to Mbarara

Descending to Nyakalengija trail head (1600m) Park Head Quarters, this can take 2-3 hours depending on your body fitness. We shall have lunch in Kasese, and then transfer to Mbarara at Igongo Country Hotel for relaxation. There will be quality Spa and Wellness services for your relaxation as you`re carrying memories of Uganda with you back home from the mystical challenges of Rwenzori mountains.

Day 11: Return to Entebbe & Departure

Mid-morning transfer from Mbarara to Entebbe International Airport for your evening Departure flight back home.
