Best Time to Visit
Uganda is accessible year-round, but the dry seasons - June to August and December to February - offer cleaner trails and clearer sightlines. Gorilla trekking is possible in any month; we account for seasonality when drafting your itinerary.
Permits & Logistics
Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are limited by government regulation and must be secured well in advance. Territory Explorers handles all permit procurement, in-country transfers, and park entry documentation as part of every booking.
How Long to Spend
We recommend a minimum of ten nights to move meaningfully between Uganda's main regions without feeling rushed. Longer stays allow for slower travel - crater lake detours, community visits, and unhurried mornings at the forest edge.
Health & Preparation
Malaria prophylaxis and yellow fever vaccination are required. A detailed pre-departure health brief, packing list, and destination dossier are sent to every traveller at least six weeks before departure.

A portion of every Uganda itinerary fee is directed to park conservation and community benefit programmes. We work exclusively with lodges that hold a meaningful local employment record and transparent environmental standards.
Is Uganda Safe for Travel?
For safari travellers, yes - confidently so. Uganda's national parks are well-managed, professionally staffed, and visited by thousands of international guests each year without incident.
Bwindi, Murchison Falls, Kibale, and Queen Elizabeth National Park operate with armed ranger escorts and established safety protocols throughout.

Government-issued permits for gorilla trekking are strictly limited and must be secured far in advance. For itineraries that include Bwindi or Mgahinga, yours are obtained and confirmed before you travel
