Nairobi's Most Storied Stay Breakfast Among Giraffes
Rugged Beauty, Rare Species Kenya's Wildest Kept Secret
Luxury Kenya - Samburu & Maasai Mara

(Trip Overview)
Eleven days is enough time for Kenya to reveal itself in full, and this journey is built to do exactly that. It moves from Nairobi's iconic Giraffe Manor north into Samburu, a region defined by rugged, semi-arid scenery and wildlife species found almost nowhere else in Kenya, offering a safari experience distinct from the country's more familiar circuits. The journey then shifts south into the Maasai Mara for classic game viewing across some of Africa's most celebrated savannahs, home to the continent's most recognizable wildlife. The contrast between Samburu's rugged distinctiveness and the Mara's iconic grasslands gives this itinerary a depth rarely found in a single trip, moving between destinations by air to keep the focus on time in the wild rather than time in transit. For travelers wanting to extend the experience, three nights on the white sands of Diani Beach offer a natural finale - trading the intensity of the bush for the Indian Ocean's warm waters and a markedly slower pace. Whether concluded in the Mara or carried through to the coast, this itinerary offers a refined, varied, and unmistakably complete encounter with Kenya's finest landscapes. Highlights • Availability: 6 January–9 April, 21 May–15 November and 1–31 December 2026 • Duration: 8 days, or 11 days with the Diani Beach extension • Locations: Nairobi, Samburu, Maasai Mara and optional Diani Beach • Start: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), Kenya • End: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), Kenya

Days 2–4 | Samburu – Kenya’s Northern Frontier
After breakfast, transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight north to the Samburu region. On arrival, continue to Sasaab Camp, dramatically positioned above the Ewaso Nyiro River with expansive views across the surrounding landscape.
Samburu offers a striking change from the greener landscapes of southern Kenya. Its dry plains, rocky hills and riverine areas support several species particularly associated with the northern regions, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and Somali ostrich.
Spend the next three days exploring this remarkable wilderness through game drives and guided walks. Cultural visits to local Samburu communities provide an opportunity to learn about the traditions and everyday life of the people who live alongside this wildlife-rich landscape.
Between activities, return to camp to relax and enjoy the expansive views. The setting provides a peaceful contrast to the excitement of your time out in the bush.

During the Great Migration season, the Mara becomes a major destination for migrating wildebeest and zebra moving through the wider Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, adding another dimension to an already exceptional wildlife experience.
Spend your three days in the Mara on morning and afternoon game drives, exploring different areas of the reserve and taking advantage of the changing conditions throughout the day. Between drives, relax at camp and enjoy the tranquillity of the surrounding savannah.

Breakfast
Waking up to giraffes at the manor set the tone perfectly, but Samburu is what stayed with us most - landscapes and wildlife we'd never seen anywhere else in Kenya. The Mara that followed was everything we'd hoped for, and adding Diani Beach at the end turned this into the perfect balance of wild and restful. Every lodge, every flight, every detail was effortless.
