Ol Pejeta's Quiet Wilderness Rhinos Roaming Free
Serengeti's Endless Horizon Herds as Far as You Can See

Into the Great Migration, Kenya & Tanzania

(Trip Overview)

Each year, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle sweep across the plains of Kenya and Tanzania in search of fresh grazing, drawing travelers from around the world to witness one of the animal kingdom's oldest and most dramatic rituals. Over ten days, this safari settles right into the middle of it all, moving between Ol Pejeta's private conservancy, the wildlife-dense Maasai Mara, and the open, seemingly endless plains of the Serengeti. The days unfold at a pace that favors depth over ground covered - long, unhurried game drives with guides who know the land and its animals intimately, in search of the Big Five and countless other species along the way. Time in a private conservancy like Ol Pejeta brings a quieter, more personal rhythm than the wider parks, while cultural encounters along the route add another layer to the experience, connecting the wildlife to the people and communities who share this landscape. Throughout, the trip leans on classic safari style - elegant tented camps set within the wilderness, small enough to feel intimate, comfortable enough to feel like true rest after a day in the bush. For travelers hoping to witness the migration not as a distant spectacle but as something felt up close, this ten-day journey offers exactly that: space, time, and access to one of nature's most remarkable events. Highlights • Ten days across three exceptional wildlife regions - Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Maasai Mara, and the Serengeti - timed to coincide with the Great Migration • A rare encounter with the world's last remaining northern white rhinos, protected within Ol Pejeta's 90,000-acre private conservancy • A choice of Design Your Day experiences at Ol Pejeta, from guided bush walks to meeting the anti-poaching dog unit or visiting the chimpanzee sanctuary • Front-row access to more than a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle crossing the Maasai Mara during peak migration season • An optional sunrise hot-air balloon safari over the Mara's open plains • An A&K-exclusive community visit to a local school, supporting a clean water initiative backed by Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy • A meaningful cultural encounter with a nearby Maasai village • Days spent tracking the Big Five across the Serengeti's vast plains, plus a search for the lesser-known Little Five • A chef-led cooking demonstration featuring local Tanzanian flavors • Elegant, intimate tented camps throughout, including Tambarare Camp, Olare Mara Kempinski, and Nimali Mara

“The Migration, Up Close and Personal”

We'd seen the documentaries, but nothing compares to standing there as the herds moved past for what felt like hours. Ol Pejeta gave us a gentler start, all rolling hills and quiet mornings, before the Mara and Serengeti turned everything up a notch. Our camps were beautiful and intimate, our guides felt like old friends by the end, and the whole ten days moved with a rhythm that let us actually breathe in each place instead of rushing through it.
